Jharkhand: Life imprisonment for woman and her lover for murder of husband, verdict in three-year-old case

A court in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to three persons, including a woman and her lover, involved in the murder of her husband in a three-year-old case. Additional District Judge-4 Rajendra Kumar Sinha had convicted Sweta Das, her lover Sumit Singh and their accomplice Sonu Lal in the Tapan Das murder case on January 27. After which all were sentenced to life imprisonment. Apart from this, the court also imposed a fine of seven thousand rupees on all of them.

According to the information, Tapan Das was murdered on 12 January 2019 in Telco area of ​​Jamshedpur. After this, the three convicts kept the body in the fridge and took it to Barabanki by autorickshaw. Where the dead body was thrown in a bush. After two days, local people traced the body after smelling bad smell from the bush and informed the police.

Case busted from CCTV and call details
The police cracked the case by checking the CCTV footage found from around the apartment block (where Sweta and Tapan lived) and the call details of the three accused. It is being told that the couple also has a nine-year-old daughter. Shweta, Sumit Singh and Sonu Lal are currently lodged in different jails in the case. He was presented before the court through virtual mode for the hearing of the case.
