Jharkhand: Internet services banned after violent demonstrations in Ranchi, order issued by Home Secretary

Violent protests erupted in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi on Friday following controversial remarks by suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Prophet Mohammad. Incidents of stone pelting and arson took place during these demonstrations. All internet services have been temporarily suspended till 6 am on June 11 in view of the fierce protests in Ranchi.

SSP, SP City, DACP and policemen injured
During the demonstration, SSP, SP City, DSP City, in-charge of Daily Market police station and some other policemen, who were controlling the situation, were injured. There are also reports of civilian injuries.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren appealed
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said, “I came to know about this worrying incident.. The people of Jharkhand have always been very sensitive and tolerant.. There is no need to panic. I appeal to everyone that any such activity Refrain from participating in this which may lead to more such crimes.”

According to initial reports, 11 policemen and 12 protesters were injured. He is undergoing treatment in various hospitals. According to Jharkhand Police, the situation is under control at present. Force has been deployed. Senior police officers including IG, Superintendent of Police, DSP are camping in the area.

Ranchi Civil Surgeon Dr. Vinod Kumar told that till late evening, six injured were brought to Sadar Hospital. One of them was shot and was referred to RIMS. Rest of the injured are being treated at Sadar Hospital.

Earlier, the district administration of Ranchi imposed curfew and appealed to the people to stay in their homes. According to reports, barricading was done on the main road of the capital by the police administration, which the protesters tried to break. When the police administration tried to stop them, they started pelting stones at the police itself.

Seeing the mob getting furious, the police fired ten rounds of air. But the protesters continued to create nuisance on the main road. The entire main road of Ranchi was vandalized.
