The Jharkhand High Court had ordered a SIT probe headed by Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Latkar after taking cognizance of a letter filed in the court by the Principal District Judge of Dhanbad in the matter.
The Chief Justice of the High Court, Ravi Ranjan, converted it into a writ petition and ordered the formation of an SIT.
The High Court has said that it will monitor the investigation and seek updates from the SIT from time to time.

The top court had sought a status report from the Jharkhand Chief Secretary and the DGP on the probe within a week.
Jharkhand Police has arrested two people named auto driver Lakhan Verma and his assistant Rahul Verma in the case.
The arrests were made after the recovery of the three-wheeler involved in the incident, said senior superintendent of police, Dhanbad, Sanjeev Kumar, adding that the three-wheeler recovered from Giridih has been registered in the name of a woman.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met Anand’s family members and told them that the state government was serious about investigating the matter.
