Jharkhand: Finance Minister presented economic survey report in the assembly, estimated 8.8 percent growth in GDP

Jharkhand government presented its economic survey report in the assembly on Wednesday. It has projected a growth of 8.8 per cent in real Gross State Domestic Product (GDP) for the current fiscal.

This Economic Survey details the state of the economy ahead of the state government’s budget for the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2022. It said that the state has shown sufficient resilience to quickly recover from every setback including economic recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon presented this survey report. It said, “The GDP growth rate in the current financial year 2021-22 is estimated to be 8.8 percent. The state’s GDP has registered an average growth of eight per cent per year in the five years since its implementation (from 1999-2000 to 2004-2005).

This was followed by 6.6 per cent between 2004-05 and 2011-12. Between 2011-12 and 2018-19, this rate stood at 6.2 per cent. There has been a decline in the growth rate in the years 2019-20 and 2020-21.

According to the survey report, both the economy of the country and the economy of Jharkhand registered a growth rate of just four per cent.

This was followed by 6.6 per cent between 2004-05 and 2011-12. Between 2011-12 and 2018-19, this rate stood at 6.2 per cent. There has been a decline in the growth rate in the years 2019-20 and 2020-21.
