At least eight were killed and over 30 injured in separate road accidents in Jharkhand’s Jamtara and Gumla districts.

A speeding truck hit a two-wheeler in Jamtara district on Wednesday afternoon. Four members of a family on a two-wheeler were returning home from a wedding ceremony. The incident took place near Kendriya Vidyalaya Jamtara, about 210 km from state capital Ranchi. On receiving information about the incident, the police reached and admitted the injured to the hospital for treatment.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Jamtara said that three children were going from a wedding ceremony along with their relatives. All three children are below 10 years of age.

Four died due to vehicle overturn

Four people were killed when a vehicle going to a marriage function overturned in Gumla district. 30 others were injured in the incident. The police gave this information on Wednesday. Gumla Superintendent of Police Ehtesham Waqarib said that the accident took place late on Tuesday night in Dumri area. A pickup van carrying many guests at the wedding ceremony overturned. The SP said that four people were killed and 30 others were injured when a pickup van going to a marriage function overturned in Dumri. All the four people died on the spot, while the injured were admitted to a local hospital, he said. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed grief over the death of people in the accident. In a tweet, Soren said, “The death of four people in a road accident in Gumla is sad.
