The National Investigation Agency raided the hideouts of Naxalites in Jharkhand. During this, the NIA seized a huge amount of ammunition from the Naxalites’ hideout. The team swung into action in Gumla district on Friday following the disclosure by the PLFI chief, the official said. The team seized 1,245 rounds of 7.62 mm and 271 bullets of 5.56 mm from the forests of Kamdara area of the district.

The kingpin was caught a week ago

NIA officials say that the seized ammunition was found two years ago in Nalanda, Bihar. It was kept in the jungles by PLFI terrorists. The chief of the militant outfit, Dinesh Gope, was arrested by the NIA from New Delhi a week ago. The official says that Gop has more than 100 cases registered against him including kidnapping, intimidation, extortion, murder and fund raising. The administration had declared a reward of Rs 30 lakh on him. In Khunti district the Gop is known as Kuldeep Yadav and Barku.

The first case was registered in 2016

According to the agency, an encounter took place between PLFI and security personnel at Gudri in West Singhbhum, Jharkhand on February 3 last year. During this, firing also took place between the two. However, the Naxalites were hiding in the jungles, due to which the team could neither nab the Naxalites nor the leader. Gop used to loot traders, contractors and public for funding. Investments in shell companies were made from the bank accounts of Gop’s associates and family members. The first case against Gope was registered in Ranchi in 2016. After this, in 2018, the NIA registered the case again. Along with seizing the seized ammunition, the NIA has attached 14 bank accounts. The team has also seized two cars, some property and cash.

Five accused arrested in separate incidents

Five TSPC terrorists have been arrested in different cases in Jharkhand on Saturday. The team arrested Surendra Singh (32) and Nakul Singh (25) from Madhuri Jungle in Palamu district. ASP Rishav Garg told that both were going by bike, then the team nabbed both. 50,000 cash, TSPC pamphlet, four phones along with a power bank have been seized from them. Chatra SP Rakesh Ranjan said that in the second incident, Area Commander Rakesh Singh, Chhotan Turi and Mohammad Takir have been arrested.
