“We are grateful for his gentle demeanour and quiet strength,” Jennifer Garner said in her emotional tribute to her father.
Jennifer Garner’s father William Garner, 85, passed away on the afternoon of Saturday (March 30). The actress shared the news with her followers on Monday and informed them that her dad, who lived a healthy, wonderful life, passed away “peacefully” and left behind a “loving legacy”.
Paying tribute to her father, Jennifer Garner uploaded a series of photos and videos featuring him and wrote, “We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away— valid question.) While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85 year old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, I know grief is unavoidable, waiting around unexpected corners.”

Recalling her dad’s nature, Jennifer Garner said, “We are grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanour and quiet strength. For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever-patient girl dad.” The Family Switch star expressed gratitude for his strong work ethic, leadership qualities and unwavering faith, which undoubtedly shaped their family’s values and experiences.
She went on to say that her family was extending their gratitude to the Charleston Area Medical Centre and City of Hope – which is a “world-renowned pioneer in cancer research, treatment and prevention”. She thanked the medical centre for their care which “extended” her father’s life and gave “him time to be in his favourite spots— surrounded by daughters and grandchildren, cheering for his beloved Aggies, captaining a boat, and— most of all—next to his wife of 59 years, our Mom.”
In the tribute, Jennifer Garner mentioned how “wonderful” her father was. She spoke about the immeasurable impact her father had on her and her sisters’ lives. She admitted that there is an abundance of stories and memories to share about his wonderful qualities. “But for today I share these memories with my appreciation for the kind and brilliant man, father, and grandfather he was, as well as the loving legacy he left behind,” she added.
Jennifer Garner’s fans and friends from the industry expressed their condolences swiftly upon hearing the news of her father’s passing. Actor Mark A Wagner said, “So sorry for your loss,” Melanie Lynskey commented, “So, so much love to you. He seems like an amazing man”
