Jemimah Rodrigues recalls conversation with Virat Kohli, says ‘he helped me through the phase I was in’

Former Indian captain and prolific batsman Virat Kohli is an inspiration to many young and up-and-coming cricketers. Not only his competitive side and his prowess to hit the ball out of the park, people look up to him for the way he handled the ups and downs in his illustrious international career. Indian woman cricketer Jemima Rodrigues is one such personality. She recently opened up about her meeting with the 33-year-old and how she proved to be an inspiration for the tough times Kohli was going through.

During his appearance on ‘The Ranveer Show’, Rodrigues mentioned that he got a chance to catch up with Smriti Mandhana, Kohli and Anushka Sharma at a cafe in New Zealand. Although their conversation lasted four hours, Rodrigues shared a brief account of the conversation.

Rodrigues said that in New Zealand, both the men’s and women’s cricket teams were in the same hotel, so he and Smriti had asked Virat: “We want to talk to you Virat bhaiya about batting. Can we meet?” Kohli agreed to meet at a cafe and was accompanied by Anushka Sharma. Rodrigues said he had asked her for only a few minutes, but he ended up speaking for four hours. The batsman of the cricket team considers herself privileged as she got a chance to meet such people. “At the right time, we met them and they really inspired and helped me when I was.”
