Pensioners across India need to submit their life certificate The deadline for the same has been fixed on 30th November this year. While the window to submit proof of existence has already opened for pensioners above 80 on October 1, the same will open on November 1 for those below 80. A life certificate is an essential document for pensioners as it serves as their proof. Life. This in turn ensures that the pensioner continues to receive his pension without any hassle. It also helps the pensioner’s workplace to stop payment of pension on his/her death.
Life Certificate, also known as Jeevan Pramaan The Patra should be shown to an authorized pension distributor or agency, eg a bank or a post office. There are several ways to submit a life certificate. Normally, the pensioner who wishes to submit his life certificate has to appear in person before the disbursing agency for the issuance of the document. However, to make it easier for senior citizens, the Center has come up with Digital Life Certificate (DLC), which is considered as sufficient proof for pension disbursement. Digital Life Certificate, which uses biometric details to be generated, has been a particularly useful way of obtaining proof of one’s life. It was launched by the Government of India in November 2014.
Prerequisites for Digital Life Certificate
If a pensioner wants to submit Digital Life Certificate then he/she has to fulfill certain pre-requisites. A pensioner should have an Aadhaar number, a registered mobile number, a supported biometric device for scanning fingerprints, personal computer with Windows 7.0 and above or an Android mobile/tablet 4.0 and above. Apart from these, pensioners must have registered their Aadhaar number with the Pension Disbursing Agency.
Steps to submit Digital Life Certificate
The pensioner has to first download the Jeevan Pramaan mobile application to get himself registered for the process. Here the applicant has to submit his Aadhaar number, pension payment order, bank account number, bank name and mobile number. This portal uses the Aadhaar platform for biometric authentication and the applicant has to submit his/her fingerprint for identification.
How to Download/Check Jeevan Pramaan Status Online?
After the pensioner has submitted all the details, he will send an SMS to the registered mobile number, which contains the Jeevan Pramaan ID. After that, the life certificate can be obtained by providing the ID. To download a PDF version, the pensioner needs to log on to the Jeevan Pramaan portal. He can also check the status of Digital Life Certificate by downloading the PDF version of the document. It can be accessed at any time by the user or pension disbursing agent with Jeevan Pramaan ID.
How to Scan Fingerprint for Submission of Digital Life Certificate
To scan fingerprints, one has to first purchase one of the UIDAI compliant biometric devices. These include devices from Mantra, Startec, Morpho, Biomatics, Tatva and Precision. The complete list is available on the website pmjay.gov.in. Once one of the above devices is purchased, the pensioner has to connect it to a computer or mobile phone to obtain the fingerprint scan.
Life certificate can also be submitted by visiting one’s nearest bank branch, post office or workplace and submitting a duly filled form. Despite the introduction of new and apparently convenient means, this remains the most common method of submitting documents.
Jeevan Pramaan or Jeevan Pramaan can also be submitted through Doorstep Banking Alliance or Postman at Home Service. In the Doorstep Banking service, which is an amalgamation of 12 public sector banks, the pensioner needs to download the Doorstep Banking App and book the service. An agent will then come to the pensioner’s home to get the details and thus complete the process. Similarly, the service at the post office is an idea of the Department of Posts along with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity). Here, a postman comes to the pensioner’s house when he/she books the service from the PostInfo app.
