The India-spec seven-seater Jeep Meridian SUV was unveiled recently, along with its various technical specifications. The vehicle is built on the same platform as the Jeep Compass and is the first Jeep product to be launched in a long time since the company introduced the Jeep Compass in India. This new 7-seater Jeep SUV is expected to be launched in May 2022 and pre-orders for the Meridian SUV are already being accepted by Jeep dealers at a token amount of Rs 50,000. Here is the spec comparison between the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Meridian.
While its design has a rugged appearance, the Jeep Compass manages to be both sporty and tough due to a dynamic front bumper with a gaping air-dam, powerful headlights and a front grille with a famous seven-slot design . An SUV-style tailgate, a set of raised tail-lights, a false roof-rail system, as well as an 18-inch alloy wheel with a two-tone finish to complement the SUV’s exterior features (with lower trim level 17 There are ready-made )-inch wheels).

With regards to the Jeep Compass, the Jeep Meridian headlamps have been re-installed and the front bumper has been modified slightly due to the larger dimensions, while the grille retains its signature seven-slot design. The vehicle features a unique design for the taillight and tailgate along with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Rest of the design remains the same between these two SUVs.
The Jeep Compass boasts an impressive array of high-quality interior features including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-function steering wheel, soft-touch materials and a fully digital 10.25-inch TFT dashboard. The Jeep Compass also gets rain-sensitive wipers, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry and go, power-adjustable front-row seats, ventilated front-row seats, auto-dimming IRVM, 360-degree camera and wireless . As for the dashboard, AC vents and steering wheel, the Jeep Meridian has the same design as the Jeep Compass, but the interior colors are different – black and brown. All cabin-features of the Jeep Meridian are similar to the Compass, be it the 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system or the panoramic sunroof. The infected 10.25-inch digital instrument console is also similar to the one found on the Jeep Compass.
Jeep Compass is available with two engine options: a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 162 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The second engine is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit that makes 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. Both petrol and diesel engines are available with a 6-speed manual transmission, for the automatic, a 7-speed DCT system is available on the petrol version while the diesel version gets a 9-speed torque-converter system. In the diesel variant, AWD is available as an option.
At launch, the Jeep Meridian will be offered with the same engine option as the Jeep Compass – a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel and will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. There is also a 9-speed torque-converter transmission on the option. Later, a petrol engine is expected to be added to the range.
The price of the Jeep Compass petrol variant is between Rs 17.79 lakh to Rs 26.34 lakh (ex-showroom), while the diesel variant of the Jeep Compass is priced between Rs 19.49 lakh and Rs 29.34 lakh (ex-showroom).
There are no details on the pricing of the Jeep Meridian yet, but it is expected to be significantly higher than the Jeep Compass, possibly in the same price bracket as the Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner.
