JEE Main 2023: Engineering exam aspirants are demanding to increase the percentage required for class 12th from the current 75 per cent to 50 per cent.

The Bombay High Court will hear on April 6 an amended petition challenging the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 eligibility criteria. The matter before the High Court was fixed on 21 February but the court did not take it up. The court’s verdict on the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2023 candidates is expected on April 6.

Advocate Anubha Srivastava Sahay tweeted, “JEEMain2023 matter was mentioned before Hon’ble Chief Justice of Mumbai High Court for 75% criteria, court will hear it on 6th April.”

As per the prescribed eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2023, candidates must have scored at least 75 percentile in their class 12 board exam or must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates from their respective boards.

Engineering exam aspirants are demanding the required class 12th percentage to be revised from the existing 75 per cent to 50 per cent. Apart from this, these students are also demanding to do away with the top 20 percentile criteria.

Last year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) came up with the 30:70 norm on the day of declaration of results. As per this change in results, 30 per cent weightage was given to the result in the first session and 70 per cent weightage to the result in the second session, as a result, those who performed well in the first session but could not perform well in the second session were awarded lesser marks. meet. marks and were below 75 per cent. He could not even make it to the top 20 percentile of the board.

Many students argue that since there is no uniformity in their marking schemes of different boards, the 75 per cent eligibility is unfair to state board students. NTA has announced the exam dates for JEE Main Session 2 to be held from April 6 to April 12. The registration process for the second session started on February 14 and will end on March 12.
