JDU’s Upendra Kushwaha hit back at Tejashwi regarding the tenure of Bihar government

Janata Dal (United) leader Upendra Kushwaha hit back at Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav over his comments on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar. Tejashwi had claimed that the state government would be out of power in the next two to three months.

Intensifying his attack on Tejashwi, Kushwaha said, “No power can bring down JDU in the next five years. He also said that several RJD MLAs were in touch with him. However, he declined to elaborate, saying that politics is widely considered a game of possibilities and people should be prepared for surprises.

Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) merged with Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) a few months back.

Tejashwi had gone to visit his parliamentary constituency flood-hit Raghopur yesterday. Hearing the grievances and outrage of some residents who lost their homes and property in the floods, he responded by saying, “Don’t panic, the government of Bihar is going to fall within two to three months.”

Though his remarks have taken Bihar’s already volatile political climate by storm, experts in the state see no reason for the ruling party to be concerned. Most political experts in the state are of the opinion that Tejashwi’s statement came as a reaction to the anger and resentment of the flood victims towards the ruling NDA government in Bihar.

However, the waves it has created with the controversial remarks show no signs of dying out, and will likely continue to rock Bihar politics for some time.

The NDA has a clear majority in the 243-member Bihar Assembly with 125 MLAs. Tejashwi’s RJD-led Grand Alliance has 110 seats.
