Jayam Ravi, one of the renowned actors of the Tamil film industry, turned 41 this Friday. Jayam is the younger brother of Tamil film producer Mohan Raja. In 2003, Jayam made his acting debut with the lead role in Raja’s directorial venture Jayam. Due to Jayam’s success, the actor changed his name from Mohan Ravi to Jayam Ravi. Jayam (2003)

The action drama film launched the actor playing the larger-than-life angry young man. The film was a remake of the 2002 Telugu film of the same name. The film also starred actress Sadha in a lead role and Thottampudi Gopichand acted as the antagonist.

Unnakum Ennakum (2006)

This romance drama made Jayam the heart of the Tamil film industry. Directed by Bhai Raja, the film starred Trisha as Jayam’s girlfriend. Set in a rural background, the story deals with the blossoming romance between a village girl and the son of a wealthy merchant. How the two defy societal pressure to pursue their love is what the film deals with.

Santosh Subramaniam (2007)

Jayam and Genelia Deshmukh played the lead roles in this romantic comedy. The story traces the journey of Jayam’s character who wants to marry the girl he loves. Prakash Raj is playing the role of Jayam’s strict father. Jayam’s character has to convince his father to marry Genelia’s on-screen character.

Thani Oruvan (2015)

This blockbuster film sees Jayam playing the role of a dysfunctional IPS officer, who is on a mission to catch a rich and powerful scientist played by Arvind Swamy, who commits several medical malpractices for money. Jayam Ravi plays the role of Mithun, while the antagonist Swami plays the role of Anupam Siddhartha Abhimanyu. The thriller film definitely changed the audience’s perception of Jayam and his brother Raja, who till then were mostly known for remakes of Telugu films.

Comali (2019)

Surprising his audience with another side of his acting, Jayam played the lead role in this comedy adventure film. Directed by Pradeep Ranganathan, Komali traces the journey of a man who wakes up from a prolonged coma to learn that he is in his 30s and has missed 16 years of his life.
