To carve a niche for himself since his debut in the show Kasautii Zindagii Kay (aired from 2001-08), actor Jai Bhanushali has entertained us with his amazing versatility. From showing off hosting skills to reality shows like Dance India From dance and Indian Idol to participating in Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi, Jai has ruled the TV industry. He has won millions of hearts with his performances in films like Hate Story 2 and Ek Paheli Leela. However, it was not easy for the actor. He had over 2000 auditions before he could get his first show. In a recent interview with Times of India, the actor revisited his early days in showbiz and opened up about his professional journey.
Recalling how he started his career in the entertainment industry, Jay revealed that it was his sister who inspired him to pursue a career in modeling. But the actor never took him seriously. However, he admitted that later, he only “acted on his suggestions”. TOI quoted Jai as saying, “My sister suggested that I should try modeling but I never took it seriously. Later, I changed my mind and acted on his suggestions.”
However, Jai had to go through several auditions and several screen tests to get his big break. From 2004 onwards, he started getting more offers for advertisements. After some time, he managed to impress filmmaker Ekta Kapoor and was cast in a supporting role in his show Kasautii Zindagii Kay.
He even played the lead role in his 2007 show Kayamath. But that was not enough for Jay. He had to struggle a lot to reach where he is today. In an interview with TOI, the actor revealed that his breakthrough came after several “sleepless nights”. Jai said, ‘The journey is not easy. It has many ups and downs. It took me 2000 auditions to get that success. Double sleepless nights and hard work to get to where I am today.”
On the work front, Jai is currently hosting Dance India Dance Little Masters Season 5. The show stars Mouni Roy, Sonali Bendre and choreographer Remo D’Souza as judges.
