Jasprit Bumrah Undergoes Back Surgery in New Zealand, Expected to be Out For Six Months

Jasprit Bumrah will miss this year’s Asia Cup but BCCI is hopeful that he will be fit in time for the ODI World Cup

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly undergone successful back surgery in Christchurch (New Zealand) and it may take around six months for him to return to competitive cricket.

A recurring back problem has been troubling Bumrah for some time now and has forced him to stay on the sidelines for months now.

According to news agency PTIBCCI sources have revealed that orthopedic surgeon Dr. The surgery was “successfully” performed by Rowan Schouten.

A six-month recovery period means Bumrah will miss this year’s Asia Cup, which will be played in the one-day format, and if all goes according to plan, he is likely to make a comeback in the ODI World Cup in India. October – November.

The 29-year-old has been out of action since playing two T20Is during Australia’s tour of India in September last year. He was later ruled out of a white-ball series against South Africa and failed to make it to the T20 World Cup.

Satisfied with his rehabilitation at the NCA, the selectors named him for the home series against Sri Lanka in January, but he again faced trouble in being dropped.

Fitness issues have seen Bumrah out of several big tournaments including last year’s Asia Cup and T20 World Cup and the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India. He will also sit out the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League and will miss the final of the ICC World Test Championship to be played in June if India qualifies.

The Indian team management did not rush his comeback keeping in mind the ODI World Cup to be held in October-November.
