Jasprit Bumrah will be treated by the same surgeon who helped England fast bowler Joffra Archer recover.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may go to New Zealand to undergo surgery as he will not be able to play in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Bumrah has been out of cricket action due to a back injury for almost 6 months since he last played cricket India In the T20I against Australia in September last year.

Bumrah will be treated by the same surgeon who helped England fast bowler Joffra Archer recover.

According to the report of Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) managers have finalized a surgeon named Rowan Scouten.

Schouten had, in the past, worked with renowned orthopedic surgeon Graham Inglis, who operated on some New Zealand players including Shane Bond – the bowling coach of the Mumbai Indians, who possibly suggested Schouten’s name.

Bumrah’s injury has been a major concern for the Indian team management as the Men in Blue missed out on his services in the Asia Cup 2022, T20 World Cup and the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

The premier was set to return to competitive cricket this year and was selected in the Indian squad for a white-ball series against Sri Lanka at home in January.

However, the attempt was aborted after Bumrah reported discomfort and the emergence of a new niggle that ruled him out of the current Border Gavaskar trophy.

The report further states that Schouten also assisted Inglis with surgery on Australian fast bowler James Pattinson, while he also performed surgeries on Ben Dwarshuis and Jason Behrendorff, who were also battling back issues.

The right-arm pacer last played for the country on 25 September 2022 in a T20I match against Australia at home. Since then, he has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
