Janmashtami Celebrated With Religious Fervour In Varanasi | Varanasi News – Times of India

VARANASI: Kashi, the land of Lord Shiva, celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami with religious fervour on Friday night. Apart from home, grand celebrations were also held at different places including ISKCON temple, police lines, police stations, BHU and other places or urban and rural areas of the district. In Banaras Hindu University, Shri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated on a large scale with religious gaiety and reverence. Vice-chancellor Prof Sudhir Kumar Jain and other members of the university family participated in the festivity. In the main function organized at Malviya Bhawan, Vedic invocation, Lord Shri Krishna worship and Shri Krishna Katha were organized. The VC performed the aarti of Lord Shri Krishna.
Besides, the celebration was also held at other places including Vishwanath Temple, various hostels of the university, and schools and hostels of the South Campus at Barkachha in Mirzapur. Attractive and lively tableaux on the life of Lord Krishna were decorated in the hostels, in which various incidents from his life were displayed. The VC saw the tableaux and interacted with the students and encouraged them.
A grand celebration was held at the ISKCON temple in Durgakund area. The Police Lines and various police stations also celebrated the festival with great enthusiasm.
