Jammu and Kashmir: In a major crackdown against anti-national elements and terror networks, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Monday sealed around 20 shops at a shopping complex in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. After receiving orders from the DM, the SIA took action against the alleged assets worth crores of rupees belonging to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami. The owner of this property and the general public are notified that this property has been banned.

In addition, the SIA has identified more assets worth crores of rupees belonging to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. “Today on 29.05.2023 in District Kupwara, access and entry of property worth (approximately) Rs 03 crore has been banned after it was notified by DM Kupwara on the recommendation of SIA of J&K,” read a statement.

“To prevent the availability of funds for separatist activities and to dismantle the ecosystem of anti-national elements and terror networks hostile to the national security, sovereignty, integrity and unity of India, assets belonging to the banned JEI in Kupwara has been notified by the concerned District Magistrates in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 8 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and vide Union Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No. 14017/7/2019, dated 28-February-2019.

The property is a shopping complex consisting of 20 shops along with land falling under Survey No. 2990/2666/270 and Survey No. 3551/2979/263, has been sealed and access/use prohibited , reads the notification.

In addition, a “red entry” to this effect has been made in the relevant revenue records. With this, 57 properties of JeI have been notified to SIA Kashmir so far. It is expected that this action will significantly reduce Terror Funding in Jammu and Kashmir, apart from this it will be another major step towards restoring the rule of law and society without fear.

Notably, the SIA has identified 188 JEI properties in the UT of J&K, which have either been notified or are under the process of being notified for further legal action. These are the results of the investigation of FIR No. 17 of 2019 under Sections 10, 11 and 13 of Batamaloo Police Station being investigated by SIA.

Non-Muslim activist shot dead

A non-Muslim activist was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday. Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, “Terrorists fired upon a civilian named Deepu, a resident of Udhampur, who was working at a private circus fair at an amusement park near Janglat Mandi in Anantnag. He was rushed to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.” ” Police said that a case has been registered and investigation is on.
