Jammu and Kashmir: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted searches at several places in the Union Territory. According to the information, this raid was being done in the case of a terrorist attack.

The raids were mainly carried out at the locations of suspects in South Kashmir with the help of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.

Sources said that this raid was conducted in connection with a case related to the attack on security forces in Pulwama’s Darasgarh on March 11 this year.

NIA officials are understood to have picked up some of the suspects from their residence for questioning in the case.

The development comes days after the NIA conducted raids at four places in the Union Territory, including three in Baramulla and one in Handwara district in a LoC trade and terror financing case.

The matter pertains to using the money so generated to gain additional profits and promote terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir through cross-LoC trade mechanisms between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). .

The business was started in the year 2008 through two Trade Facilitation Centers (TFCs) located at Salamabad, Uri in Baramulla district and Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch district.

On April 18, 2019, India indefinitely suspended cross-LoC trade at two points along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir following reports that arms, narcotics smuggling by elements from across the border It was being “misused”. counterfeit currency.

The NIA had registered the case on December 16, 2016, taking suo motu cognizance.

The LoC trade at Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch district of Jammu region and Salamabad in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district was intended as a confidence-building measure (CBM) for the population living in Jammu and Kashmir and across the Line of Control. . Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
