Jammu and Kashmir government sacks 6 officers associated with terror, 2 policemen among those dismissed

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has sacked six of its employees for having links with terrorists and working as overground workers. In yet another attack on terror in Jammu and Kashmir, a committee designated in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to investigate and recommend matters under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution of India has dismissed 6 employees from government service. Recommended to have terrorist links and work as OGW.

Hamid Wani, a teacher from Anantnag in the Kashmir Valley, was among the six government employees sacked from service. Wani is accused of working as a district commander for the terrorist organization Allah Tiger before joining the job. He also got this government job with the help of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Wani is also accused of being the keynote speaker of events organized in Kashmir for anti-national activities after Burhan Wani’s encounter in 2016. At the same time, Zafar Hussain Bhatt of Jammu’s Kishtwar district has also been recommended to be dismissed from government service. .

Zafar Hussain is posted as a constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police and was also arrested by the NIA under the Arms Act. Presently he is out on bail. He is accused of providing his car to transport Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists.

On the other hand, Mohammad Rafi, a resident of Kishtwar, has been recommended to be dismissed from the post of Junior Assistant in the Road and Building Department. Mohammad Rafi Bhatt is accused of allegedly providing and providing space to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists in Kishtwar district to carry out their terrorist designs. The NIA has already filed a charge sheet against him and arrested him. Presently he is out on bail.

The sacking of Liaquat Ali Kakru, a teacher from Baramulla in Kashmir, has also been recommended. Kakru joined a government job in 1983 and was arrested in 2001. It is alleged that he was a trained terrorist and explosives were also recovered from his possession. A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from him in 2002. He was also charged with the Public Safety Act in 2002. Although the court had cleared him of all charges, two grenades were also recovered from him in 2021.

The administration has also recommended the sacking of Tariq Mohammad Kohli of Jammu’s Poonch district. Kohli is posted as Range Officer in Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department. He is accused of being involved in illegal smuggling of arms, ammunition and Indian currency. He is also accused of being in contact with militants operating in the Poonch region and as per police records, he also worked as an overground worker for several terrorist organisations.

The administration has also recommended the dismissal of Shaukat Ahmed Khan of Budgam, Kashmir, posted as a constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He is accused of being involved in the looting of arms from the house of an MLC of the Jammu and Kashmir government. He was also arrested in 2019 under the Public Safety Act.
