An alert has been sounded after two explosive-laden drones crashed at the high-security Indian Air Force station at Jammu airport in Punjab’s border district Pathankot on Sunday, officials said. He said that a strict vigil is being maintained near major establishments in Pathankot. Five years ago there was a terrorist attack on the Pathankot air base.

Police said patrolling has been increased in sensitive areas in and around Pathankot and additional forces have been deployed.

“We are on our guard considering the situation. Whenever such an incident occurs, maximum alert is issued in the neighboring areas.

“We are strictly checking our inter-state border movement. We have also deployed additional forces.

Lamba said that the checking of vehicles going to Jammu and entering Pathankot from Jammu and Kashmir side has been intensified. Drones crashed at the Air Force Station at the Jammu airport in the early hours of Sunday. Two Air Force personnel were injured in the blasts that took place within six minutes of each other at around 1.40 am.

The first blast occurred from the roof of a single-storey building in the technical area of ​​the Indian Air Force-run airport in Satwari area of ​​the city. The other was on the ground, officials said.
