Former Day6 member Jay apologized after abusing South Korean singer Jamie Park. In a recent Twitch Live broadcast, Jay Park was talking about K-pop and used the word ‘th*t’ to describe Jamie. The comment was called out by Jamie on Twitter, after which Jay issued an apology.
Jay apologized to Jamie on Twitter. He admitted that the comment was in bad taste and said he felt bad for making Jamie feel like him. He said that he was talking about her aura, not her physical behavior.
“I wanted to apologize to Jamie and everyone about what I said. It was definitely a comment made in bad taste and I feel so bad for making Jamie feel the way she does.” What I thought was a friendly joke which I now realize wasn’t. In no way was I mentioning any physical behavior or energy (Jamie was trying to pick up a bit ) rather aura referred to by people as ‘Baddy’ and thought the two were synonymous, however, I understand that this is in no way an excuse for my comment. I am sorry to Jamie as well as all the people I hurt by this I sincerely apologize.”
Over the weekend, clips of Jamie speaking about Jamie were shared on social media platforms by K-pop fans. Jay, who left DAY6 and JYP Entertainment in December 2021, said, “Now that I’m not into K-pop, all I can say is this. Why is Jamie trying to be a th*t?” He said, adding that he was a friend of Jamie.
Jay was also seen saying that if Jamie asked him why he said derogatory words to her, he would explain: “(Because) you’re posting a picture like this with such a pose – it makes me believe Happens that you have completely described below that description of what I just said”.
Tweeting in reference to the issue, Jamie wrote, “I hate that we women have to be subject to the humor of men on the internet to please guys.”
