“Demolition exercise of any nature should be carried out strictly in accordance with the applicable laws, and only after due notice and opportunity of being heard to each affected person as mandated by this Court,” the petition said.

Referring to the June 3 incident, the petition said, “Issue directions to the State of Uttar Pradesh not to take any coercive action against residential or commercial property of any accused in any criminal proceeding in Kanpur district.” violence in kanpur
