India U19 cricketers have been receiving congratulations on social media for their dominating performance in the ICC U19 World Cup 2022, in which they were crowned as champions on Saturday. The Yash Dhull-led side went on to win all their six matches to clinch the title in Antigua when they beat equally strong England by four wickets in the summit clash.
The title win is India’s fifth win in the competition with eight final appearances including four in a row. The team continued to put up a strong showing and despite being hit by the coronavirus, their captain Dhul and vice-captain Sheikh Rashid missed a few matches.
The England captain opted to bat first but saw his team bowl out for 189, 44.5 overs. He could have easily been dismissed for too little, had it not been for a brilliant 95 from his middle-order batsman James Ray, who gave him a fighting chance.
For India, Raj Bawa and Ravi Kumar jointly took nine wickets and took five wickets in the former finishing. Later, half-centuries from Nishant Sindhu and Sheikh Rashid put India back on track and two sixes from Dinesh Bana sealed the title.
Several former and current stars took to social media to congratulate the team on the win.
