Jaishankar reached the Japanese Embassy to mourn the death of Shinzo Abe

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday visited the Japanese Embassy here and offered condolences to Ambassador Satoshi Suzuki over the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. India on Saturday observed a state mourning in honor of the longest-serving Japanese leader who played a major role in strengthening ties between the two countries.

Jaishankar tweeted after his visit, “For more than two decades, Shinzo Abe has been a symbol of our growing relationship. Many of its key initiatives were his personal efforts. He has made our relationship a larger global one in the free and open Indo-Pacific. put in context.” Embassy.

The 67-year-old Japanese leader died on Friday morning after being shot while delivering a campaign speech in the city of Nara, triggering a wave of shock and grief across the world.

“On a personal level, he was the very embodiment of grace and consideration. I myself have experienced his warmth over the years. We join in the deep sorrow of the people of Japan and express our support and sympathy to Mrs. Aki Abe, Jaishankar said.

Abe was the Prime Minister of Japan from 2006 to 2007 and again for a second term from 2012 to 2020.
