Pakistan and Australia have started preparations for the second Test in Karachi, starting Saturday, amid the ongoing debate over the ‘below average’ pitch in Rawalpindi. On Thursday, left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was seen bowling off-spin in the nets. Cricket fans found a lot of similarities between his action and that of ace Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
A video of Afridi’s off-spin bowling was shared by renowned sports journalist Bharat Sundarsan on Twitter. After seeing this, the fans were surprised that if this Jadeja is bowling in Pakistan Nets or not.

The Pindi Cricket Stadium pitch has come under fire after the first Test between Pakistan and Australia ended in a draw. However, Afridi was the only fast bowler in both the teams to take more than one wicket. He improved Marnus Labuschagne to 90 and Mitchell Starc (13). Nauman Ali, a conservative left-arm bowler, was the stand out bowler, taking six for 107.
Meanwhile, the ICC on Thursday described the pitch used for the first Test between Pakistan and Australia as ‘below average’.
ICC Elite Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle sent his report to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), stating that the pitch at the Pindi Cricket Stadium was ‘hardly changed’ during the game.
“There has been hardly any change in the character of the pitch over the course of five days and there has been no deterioration other than a slight drop in bounce,” Madugalle’s report said.
“The pitch didn’t have a lot of pace and bounce for the fast bowlers nor did it help the spinners as the match progressed. In my view it does not represent an equal competition between bat and ball. Therefore, keeping in mind the ICC guidelines, I consider this pitch to be below average,” it further read.
