Jadavpur University student allegedly said ‘collar of any faculty can be grabbed’, audio goes viral

An audio clip has gone viral on social media platforms in which a student can be heard saying that he can hold the collar of any teacher. This has come as “shocking and terrifying” to most of the university’s teachers.

It can be heard in the audio that a student leader of JU TMCP is threatening the teachers of JU, especially those who are members of JUTA. He is saying that he can easily “hold the collar” of any university teacher.

Jadavpur Teachers Association (JUTA) general secretary Partha Pratim Ray wrote in a letter that the recent incidents of violence against teachers “After this audio, can JU teachers feel safe? If anything happens to any teacher, who will take the responsibility?” He further asked, “Is this part of a bigger conspiracy against the JU teaching community? We strongly believe that most of the students are not related to these at all. activities and they respect all the teachers of JU.”

“One of the reasons for JU’s achievements is the strong teacher-student relationship that exists here. This audio establishes that there are plans to break this strong teacher-student relationship,” the letter read.

Referring to recent events in West Bengal Universities like Visva Bharati University The letter read, “We have seen that vice-chancellors and teachers are being abused and attacked by some student leaders in other educational institutions. Is the same culture going to start in JU as well?”

This audio purportedly, whose veracity has not been verified by News18, shows a student leader making threats over the phone. The said TMCP college leaders are saying on audio that they have the courage to touch the teachers’ collars. After the complaint of the teachers, JU officials have said that they will investigate the matter.
