Jacqueline Fernandez extends support to Sri Lankans amid economic crisis, wishes for peace

new Delhi: Amid the ongoing crisis in her home country, actress Jacqueline Fernandez shared a message of support to the Sri Lankans on her social media.

Taking to her Instagram handle, the 36-year-old former Miss Sri Lanka wrote, “As a Sri Lankan, it is heartbreaking to see what my country and countrymen are doing.”

Elevating the voice of her countrymen, the ‘Kick’ actress wrote, “Ever since it started from all over the world, I have been flooded with so many opinions. I would say don’t be too hasty in taking decisions and don’t go to anyone. Also condemn on the basis of group. On what has been shown. The world and my people don’t need second verdict, they need sympathy and support.”

Sri Lanka imposed a three-day island-wide curfew on Saturday following mass protests in Colombo over public dissatisfaction with the government’s efforts to tackle the country’s economic crisis.

644 people were arrested in the Western Province during the night for violating a curfew imposed to prevent an alleged Arab Spring-style coup called Colombo Gazette News Portal.

Sri Lanka’s president on Friday declared a nationwide state of emergency to ensure “public safety and maintenance of public order”.
