Jabra Elite 3 review: The Nothing Year (1) should be scared of

Danish audio equipment manufacturer Jabra has been a critically acclaimed brand when it comes to headphones. However, a few years back the brand was little known until it entered the true wireless earphones category with its Jabra Elite 65t, which was seen as the only legible competitor for the time. Apple’s AirPods, Now, I have used Jabra Elite 65t For the past few years, and never felt the need to upgrade. So, when I got a chance to use it Jabra Elite 3, I wanted to see how far the brand has come in the TWS segment, and to see if I should upgrade after more than two years of use. Here’s what I thought:

Now, the Jabra Elite 3 comes as a more affordable offering from the Danish brand as the Jabra Elite-T or Elite Pro series is considered a bit pricey for the average Indian user, no matter how good a product they are. The Jabra Elite 3 has been priced at Rs 5,999, which gives them a direct competition with the Nothings Ear (1) TWS earphones. now, while nothing ears (1) With premium features like active noise cancellation and wireless charging, is the Jabra Elite 3 better in terms of practicality and audio quality? let’s find out:

Design

In terms of design, the Jabra Elite 3 looks familiar. Not much has changed in terms of design since its predecessor, the Jabra Elite 2. A more premium look, in-line with the more premium Jabra Elite 7 Pro. The design of the earphones is good with a compact case. The earbuds have no stem and are triangular pods with a flat surface that houses the buttons. Buttons are easy to locate, but a little more difficult to locate (more on this later). The case of Jabra Elite 3 is good in terms of size and design. It is compact and can easily fit into any pocket, and it comes with a matte finish. However, the build quality on the case is not great and it feels a bit flimsy. Jabra has taken a safe approach with a design that has worked well for the brand in the past.

audio and mic performance

Jabra Elite 3 is excellent in terms of audio. They deliver clear audio with good bass-treble balance. The audio might sound a bit bass-heavy to some users, but this can be adjusted with Jabra’s Sound+ app. The earphones support Qualcomm’s aptX HD Audio codec for high resolution audio, and it shows. The fluctuations are clear and the bass-treble balance is fine for all kinds of stuff – whether it’s watching movies or TV shows or listening to music. In my opinion, the earbuds sound better than many premium offerings available in the market.

There’s no active noise cancellation, but the Jabra Elite 3 still isolates sound with its noise-isolation design. The earbuds seal out pretty well if the fit is fine and there’s a hearthrough mode that lets out a bit of extraneous noise—you can tell the difference as soon as you activate hearthrough mode with the button on the left earbud. The earphones fit snugly in my ear, so there was very little outside noise that was being let in. With music or video on, I couldn’t hear anything outside, unless hearthrough mode was activated.

The Jabra Elite 3 is claimed to provide up to 28 hours of total listening time including the charging case. (Image credit: News18 / Darab Mansoor Ali)

In terms of microphone, the Jabra Elite 3 uses four mics. During my use, I had no problem making calls or attending meetings over video calls. When it comes to isolating ambient noise, the Jabra Elite 3’s mic is pretty decent. Mic quality is good and the Jabra Elite 3 sends your audio over the other side clearly.

Battery and Features

The Jabra Elite 3 is claimed to provide up to 28 hours of total listening time including the charging case. The earphones are said to deliver up to 7 hours of battery life on a single charge. I used Jabra Elite 3 a lot in my time with him. I plugged these in for my online meeting and continued listening to music until the earbuds ran out of battery. Throughout my use, the Jabra Elite 3 easily delivered over 6 hours of battery life during continuous use. With the charging case on, the earphones lasted an average of three days.

Now, when it comes to features, there are many useful features available here. You can only use one earphone – this is useful when you’re traveling with someone and want to watch something together. The buttons on the Jabra Elite 3 are soft and don’t let the earbuds go too deep in your ear – a problem I’ve been facing with the Jabra Elite 3 for a very long time. However, the controls are a bit trickier and take a while to get used to.

Decision

So the Jabra Elite 3 looks great, and it’s very easy to use and handle. The design is given some thought to the size and material used (fits in all pockets and doesn’t scratch – winner). The audio, as I said above, can be the best in this segment in my opinion, and there is no shortage of features except premium features like ANC and wireless charging. However, these features don’t make or break a set of earphones. What makes it stand out is its good audio quality, design and long battery life. Jabra Elite 3 is the best among these three. So if you are looking for a set of TWS earphones in around Rs 6,000, then the Jabra Elite 3 definitely won’t let you down.
