J&K: No order directing district police to shift non-local labourers; Kashmir IGP says circular is fake

Kashmir’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar on Sunday clarified that the order of district police officers to shift non-local laborers to the nearest police and military camps is fake. Earlier in the day it was reportedly reported that in view of the killings, district police officials have been directed to bring all the non-resident laborers of the Valley to the nearest security camps for safety.

“All non-local laborers from your respective jurisdiction to be brought to the nearest Police/CAPF/Army establishments/camps now,” the said ‘advisory’ said.

“The order of district police officers to shift non-local laborers to police or army camps is bogus,” Kumar said in a statement.

This comes in the wake of a terrorist attack in which two non-local laborers were shot dead and another injured in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.

According to CID sources, “Three non-Kashmiri laborers were shot dead by terrorists in Wanpoh, Kulgam (in Jammu and Kashmir), identified as Raja Reshi Dev (dead), Joginder Reshi Deo (dead) and Chunchun Reshi Deo. (injured). All are residents of Bihar.”
