J-K: Indian Army foils infiltration bid along LoC in Poonch district

Tail: Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said. On the intervening night of 8-9 April, alert troops of the Indian Army detected some suspicious activities of a group of people.

When they tried to enter Indian territory from the Line of Control, the army personnel challenged them close to the fence. Army personnel also recovered a dead body after interception. “Upon being apprehended, in the ensuing operations, a dead body was seen and other intruders fled into the forest area. PRO Defense Jammu said, the area has been cordoned off and search operation is on.

The entire area has been cordoned off and intensive search operation is on.

2 narco smugglers arrested from across the border

ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that earlier on April 6, Srinagar police arrested two narco smugglers from across the border and recovered 11.08 kg of heroin, worth Rs 70 crore. According to ADGP Kumar, the accused have been identified as Sajjad Badana and Zaheer Tanch.

AGDP Kumar said, “Srinagar police have arrested two cross-border narco smugglers. Police have seized 11.08 kg of heroin, which is worth Rs 70 crore in the international market and a total cash of Rs 11,82,500.”

“An FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at Rajbagh police station,” the AGDP said. AGDP Kashmir also informed that the drugs came from Pakistan. Further investigation of the matter is underway.
