Sidhu Moosewala’s mother welcomed her son at the age of 56. Noting her age, the centre has asked Punjab Govt to sumbit a report about the IVF law in the state.
After Sidhu Moosewala’s mother Charan Kaur welcomed her son at the age of 56, the centre has sent the Punjab government a notice. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has asked the state government to submit a report on the law on babies born through IVF technology. The ministry pointed out that the age limit of a woman to undergo IVF is 21 to 50 whereas Moose Wala’s mother Charan Kaur is reportedly 56. The centre flagged the age and demanded the report.
The health ministry letter read, “Under the Section 21(g) of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, the age limit prescribed for a woman going under ART services is between 21-50 years. Therefore, you are requested to look into the matter and submit a report to this department of the action taken in this case as per the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021.”

The move also comes amid claims that she took help from abroad. Government sources told The Tribune that Charan Kaur and her husband Balkar Singh have “used the IVF facility abroad as a woman accessing ART facilities in India is mandated to be aged 21 to 50 years by law.” The baby was born on March 18.
Meanwhile, Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh leveled accusations against the Punjab government. He claimed that the family is being harassment by them following the birth of his second son. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Balkaur Singh said, “Due to the blessings of Waheguru, we got our Shubhdeep back. But the government is harassing me since morning, asking me to furnish documents of the baby. They are questioning me to prove that this child is legal.”
