‘It’s Tipu Sultan vs Veer Savarkar’: Karnataka BJP Chief on Upcoming Assembly Polls

Shivamogga: Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nalin Kumar Kateel has courted controversy by saying that the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka will be about “Tipu Sultan vs Veer Savarkar”. Addressing the people on Wednesday, BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel said, ‘This (Assembly) election is about Tipu versus Savarkar. If our country needs a patriot like Savarkar or Tipu.”

The Karnataka BJP state president challenged Siddaramaiah to a debate on who was more important for the state, Tipu or Savarkar. “People need to understand whether they need a patriot like Savarkar or Tipu,” Kateel said.

Earlier on February 7, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah had said that the Bharatiya Janata Party was not expanding the Karnataka cabinet as it was avoiding appointing the son of its senior leader BS Yeddyurappa.

Karnataka is likely to hold assembly elections in April-May this year to elect all 224 members of the Legislative Assembly.

An important BJP source told, ‘On the one hand the work of reorganizing and reorganizing the booth committee is being done to make the booth committee more strong, while on the other hand ‘Booth Vijay Abhiyan’, ‘Janaspandana Rally’, ‘BJP in Karnataka To ensure the victory of the Jan Sangathan Yatra is going on and the leaders of the party are continuously meeting the people through these rallies.

Sources told that the BJP believes that the organization becomes stronger by booth empowerment, if the booth is strong then the organization will remain active. Three months are left for the Karnataka elections. Keeping in view the 2023 elections, all these preparations are being done and after that we will focus on 2024.

As far as the reshuffle in the Karnataka government is concerned, a BJP source said that only three months are left, so there will be no major changes in it.
