On Saturday, the Bengaluru Police urged that comedian Munawwar Farooqui’s show scheduled for November 28 at the Good Shepherd Auditorium be cancelled. In a letter to the organisers, he said, “There is credible information that several organizations are opposing this stand-up comedy show and it may create chaos and disturb public peace and harmony, leading to law and order.” There could be a problem.”

Further, the police said, “It is learned that Munawwar Farooqui is a controversial figure as he has made controversial statements on deities of other religions.”

Accordingly, the show was canceled on Sunday morning.

Munawwar Farooqui replied

Comedian Munawwar Farooqui on Sunday reacted to the cancellation of his show. In a tweet, he said, “Hatred has won, the artist has lost. [Hate has triumphed, the artist has lost], My work is done! Bye! injustice.”

In his statement, he said that his show on Sunday, which had sold over 600 tickets, was canceled under threats to vandalize the venue. He wrote, “Jailed me for a joke I never did for canceling my show, no problem with that. It’s unfair.”

“I guess this is the end. My name is Munawwar Farooqui and it’s my timing. You guys were an amazing audience. Goodbye. I’m done,” he signed off.
