‘It’s between him and me’: Shivakumar defends slapper, calls him ‘boy of our house’

Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar on Sunday defended his act of slapping a man who attempted to put his arms around him and said the person he hit was a “boy from our house”. The clarification came after the Congress leader faced heavy criticism from the BJP. And people on social media platforms for his “underworld-like behavior”.

The incident took place on Friday and in the video that has been going viral since then, Shivakumar can be seen getting irritated by the act of the man who tried to get close to him and speed up with him.

Shivakumar, who calmed down, can be heard telling the man, said to be a party worker, “…you should be responsible”, before asking the cameraman present there to remove the footage. When Shivakumar was asked again on Sunday about the Friday slapping incident, he was quoted by NDTV as saying, “Look he is our boy. Also, a distant relative. I hit him saying ‘take your hand off me’. It’s okay, he’s the guy in our house. If he scolds me, I will listen. If I scold him, he will listen. It’s between him and me.”

Tweeting the video of the incident, BJP national general secretary CT Ravi asked Congress national leader Rahul Gandhi if he had given a “licence to violence” to Shivakumar, whom he described as a follower of Kotwal Ramachandra, one of the Bengaluru underworld dons. was. in the 1970s and 1980s. “Karnataka Congress President @DKShivakumar slapped his party worker in full public view.
