ITC dethrones HUL as largest FMCG brand in India, surpasses valuation of 6 trillion

New Delhi: The country’s leading FMCG company Indian Tobacco Company (ITC) has overtaken Hindustan Unilever to become the biggest player in the sector. ITC has overtaken Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) after four years.

Last week, ITC entered the list of companies with 6 trillion valuation, after which it entered the list of top 5 companies in the country. At the same time, HUL has slipped to the sixth position with a market cap of 6.09 trillion.

Meanwhile, HUL shares declined in early trade today, having seen a fall of over 4 per cent in the last five days.

However, in the meantime, ITC shares have been rising steadily. The company’s stock has seen a jump of 3.75 per cent in the last five days.

At the same time, in the last 10 days, the stock of the company has seen a rise of more than 10 percent. Talking about the last 6 months, the company’s stock has seen a jump of more than 44 percent.

ITC’s market cap in May 2019 was Rs 3.64 trillion, while that of HUL was Rs 3.62 trillion. Significantly, ITC is the largest cigarette manufacturer in the country. The company is also in the business of FMCG and Hotels. The company manufactures biscuits, noodles, snacks, chocolates, dairy products, etc.
