‘It Feels Amazing’: Ravindra Jadeja Opens up On His Recovery Journey after Stunning Comeback in Nagpur Test

Ravindra Jadeja returned figures of 7/81 and contributed 70 runs in a match which India won by an innings and 132 runs.

Returning after a 5-month long injury and then winning the player of the match award for his poor performance with bat and ball – that was the story of Ravindra Jadeja in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur. The ace all-rounder took five wickets in the first innings and then contributed a valuable 70 runs. He ended the game with seven wickets to stand as the top performer.

Jadeja returns to action after recovering from a knee injury that kept him out of important tournaments including T20s World Cup and bilateral series against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

Talking about his comeback journey in the post-match presentation, Jadeja thanked the NCA staff who helped him in his speedy recovery.

“Feels amazing. When you come back after five months and give your 100 per cent, score runs and take wickets, it feels amazing. Been working hard at NCA. Thanking NCA staff and physios They are working hard with me on Sunday as well,” Jadeja said at the post-match presentations.

Talking about his bowling in the Nagpur Test, Jadeja said, “I wanted to bowl in good areas. The ball was spinning, going straight, keeping it low. Kept telling myself to bowl at the stumps – if they make a mistake, I have a chance. I want to keep things simple. Try not to change things with my batting. It’s an important number – 5, 6, 7.”

However, India’s hero in the opening Test win over Australia was on Saturday fined 25 per cent of his match fee for applying cream on the swollen index finger of his bowling hand without permission from the on-field umpires. ,
