Samir Ouni Harbi Aslan died after being wounded by a bullet from the Israeli army during the attack on the Qalandiya camp for Palestinian refugees.

The Palestinian health ministry said Israeli forces killed a Palestinian in the occupied West Bank on Thursday.

The ministry said, “41-year-old Samir Auni Harbi Aslan died after being wounded by an Israeli occupation army bullet that entered his chest during the invasion of the Qalandiya camp for Palestinian refugees near Ramallah.”

The Israeli army said it was investigating the incident, but did not immediately provide further details.

Aslan is the third Palestinian to be killed in the West Bank in 24 hours, and the seventh since the beginning of the year.

On Wednesday, an Israeli civilian shot and killed a 19-year-old Palestinian after an attempted stabbing near a settlement in the West Bank.

Earlier that day, a terrorist from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah movement, was killed during armed clashes with Israeli forces in the Balata refugee camp in Nablus.

The swearing in last month of the most right-wing government in Israel’s history, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, has raised fears of a military escalation in the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since the 1967 Six-Day War.

Last year was the deadliest in the West Bank since UN records began in 2005, killing more than 150 Palestinians, the world body said in December.
