Ranchi: He saved 100 lives by providing covid Patients got free rides on their autorickshaws during the brutality second wave. The biopic is a part of Steel Ministry’s initiative Ispat Irada which aims to highlight individuals with determination to set an example by selfless service to the society. This 190-second video was released by the Ministry of Steel on its Twitter account on Thursday night.
The short biopic throws light on Ravi’s daily life in which he distributes newspapers in the morning and drives an autorickshaw till late evening to earn his livelihood. Ravi lives with his parents and an elder brother and is currently in his final year of graduation.
A senior steel ministry official said, “The way Ravi has set an example for others in serving the society without thinking of his own risk is commendable. We featured him as part of our campaign to honor that selfless service and his determination. ”
Isati Irada is a campaign to highlight inspiring stories and Ravi tops the list because of his service to Covid patients. “The tree is known by its fruit; A man by his deeds,” tweeted the official Twitter handle of the Ministry of Steel while launching his biopic.
Ravi said that he is grateful to the Ministry of Steel for recognizing his efforts and vowed to continue his services for the people in distress. “The second wave of Covid-19 made me realize that people are helpless and we will keep on losing more lives if the society as a whole does not come forward,” Ravi said.
But how did Ispat Irda come to be? “I was near Lalpur Chowk and I saw two women in distress who had to go to RIMS, but none of them auto The drivers were ready to take them for fear of the virus. Among them was an elderly woman who could hardly stand because she was so sick. So I offered him a ride till RIMS Trauma Center and the attendant offered me Rs 200. However, I refused to take the money as I realized that he is already in trouble and money will help him and I just sought his blessings. Ravi said.
Ravi said that on his way home, he decided that he would provide free rides to Covid patients.
Ravi ferried 104 Covid-19 patients during the second wave and did not take a single penny from any of them. But as soon as the news spread, people from different corners started donating through UPI as their mobile number went viral. “I didn’t do it for money, so I returned Rs 91,500 of Rs 95,500 and with the remaining Rs 4,000 I bought saplings and started distributing them to everyone, which I had taken to my home on my auto . Many of them wanted to thank me with cash and kind, but I asked them to plant saplings as my return gift,” said Ravi.
After the second wave ends, Ravi has announced that it will provide free rides to anyone who has to go to the hospital or is facing an emergency. He has put a printout on his autorickshaw which says ride is free for people in case of emergency and it is available round the clock.
