Islamabad’s foreign policy depends on China, accepts Imran Khan

New Delhi: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan praised Pakistan-China relations during his visit to Beijing and acknowledged that the foreign policy of the countries completely depends on China.

In a joint statement on Sunday, Imran Khan revealed that Islamabad’s foreign policy is completely dependent on Beijing. He elaborated that Pakistan-China relations are “the cornerstone of its foreign policy”. The Express Tribune reported that the two countries emphasized their support on issues “related to each other’s core interests”.

After Khan and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s meeting in Beijing, the statement issued to reporters said, “The leaders of the two countries had an in-depth exchange of views on the full spectrum of bilateral relations as well as the regional situation and the international political landscape. .

Khan also praised Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has made significant contributions to his country’s economic and social development.

Supporting each other’s efforts, both sides stressed that their close strategic ties and deep friendship are time-tested and timeless, reports Business Standard. Their bilateral relations are in the best interest of both the countries. The Pakistan side also said that the ties that the two countries share are “a cornerstone of its foreign policy” and that close friendship with China enjoys widespread support from Pakistanis.

The joint statement also said, “The Pakistan side expressed its commitment to the one-China policy and support for China on Taiwan, the South China Sea, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet.”

“The Chinese side reaffirmed its support for Pakistan in protecting its sovereignty, independence and security, as well as promoting its socio-economic development and prosperity,” the statement further said.
