ISL: Greg Stewart scripts hat-trick Jamshedpur win over Odisha Football News – Times of India

Basque: Greg Stewart as produced a superb first half hat-trick Jamshedpur FC bright past Odisha FC To climb to second place in the points table of 4-0 Indian Super League, here on Tuesday.
After Peter Hartley’s strike gave the lead in the third minute, Stewart scored three separate but surprising goals in the fourth, 21st and 35th minutes.
The result was that Jamshedpur moved from fifth to second in the points table with 11 points from six matches. Odisha are fourth with nine points from five matches.
Odisha created a ruckus in the first four minutes itself. Hartley turned in a delightful Stewart corner to the bottom right, jumping off Vineet Rai after winning a flag-kick himself.
A minute later, Stewart took a 2–0 lead on a mistake from the Odisha defense and outfoxed Paul Ramfangzuwa to back off another defender and loose a right-footed effort that left Kamaljit Singh behind and in the top right corner.
The 31-year-old Stewart, who won the Scottish Premiership with Rangers before moving to Jamshedpur, pulled off a surprising left-footed curling free-kick from 30 yards that swung past a diving goalkeeper Kamaljeet.
Stewart was in the form of his life, scoring his hat-trick in the 35th minute after he overtook some defenders and fired the keeper at the far post.
The only downside in a full half for Owen Coyle’s men was the injury of Alexander Lima, who beat a charging defender to shoot straight at the keeper but injured himself in the process.
The second half could not match the first round as the Odisha players tried to create chances and open their goal account and close the gap.
The Kiko Ramirez-trained side brought in Nikhil Raj and Lyridon Krasniki in changes to turn their fortunes around, but in the end, it proved to be a scary night for them and one that found them lacking in defense and lacking ideas. Stewart was killed by Blitzkrieg.
