Laldanmawia Ralte helped NorthEast United take the lead in the 35th minute, before Ariel Borisiuk (52nd) and Vladimir Koman (58th) brought Chennaiyin back into the game within six minutes.
The result means Chennaiyin have now moved up from seventh to third with 18 points from 12 matches, while NorthEast United are at the bottom of the table with just nine points from 13 matches.
Chennaiyin started the game on the front foot, displaying some charming passing football and keeping rival defenders on their toes.

At half-time, NorthEast United took a 1-0 lead and tried to turn the tide even after Chennaiyin’s dominance in the first half hour.
