The NIA probing the Kerala module of ISIS on Monday conducted raids in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar. During this, the NIA also seized several digital devices. The raid took place at the house of Uzair Azhar Bhat, son of Farooq Ahmed of Karfali Mohalla Habbakadal, Srinagar. The team says that Uzair is the suspect in this module.

The NIA said that the action started in the year 2021 after the arrest of terrorist Amin alias Abu Yahiya from Mallapuram, Kerala. Yahiya was spreading Jihadi ideology through platforms like Telegram, Instagram and Whoop. Through this, new members were being recruited in the ISIS module. He and his associates were also involved in target killing in Kashmir.

Uzair was in touch with Deepti
According to NIA sources, Mohammad Amin was in contact with Deepti Marla of Kerala. Dipti was married to Anas Abdul Rehman of Mangalore. In 2015, she went to Dubai to study, where she met Meeza Siddiqui. Then both of them got inclined towards ISIS. In the year 2019, both reached Tehran, Iran. From here she reached Khorasan, but when she could not get in touch with ISIS operatives, she returned to India.

After this Deepti Marla came in contact with people like Amin, Obid Hamid, Madesh Shankar, Abdullah. Then together they started a campaign to expand the Jihadi ideology. In 2020, Deepti went to Srinagar, where she stayed for a week and met Obid. The NIA team says that Deepti and Obid were in contact with Uzair Azhar Bhat, whose house was raided today.
