Pakistan, which has been receiving oil from Russia at a “concessional” rate, is currently hosting Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Islamabad, who arrived in the cash-strapped country on Thursday, July 20. Earlier, several media had reported that the war-torn country would seek an arms deal with Pakistan amid the fact that it is facing an unprecedented shortage of arms and ammunition on the battlefield. However, Kuleba denied media reports that claimed Pakistan was supplying arms to Kiev amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.

During the joint press conference, Kuleba said that there is no arms supply agreement between Pakistan and Ukraine. Expressing interest in promoting trade and economic ties, he said the country looked forward to holding the inaugural meeting of the Pakistan-Ukraine Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Bhutto expressed deep concern while speaking about the situation in Ukraine and said, “Despite our own economic challenges, Pakistan has sent humanitarian aid to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine.”

Significantly, a fierce war has been going on between Russia and Ukraine for the last one and a half years. As the two countries engaged in aggression, thousands of lives were lost and millions fled the war-torn country.
