Irrfan Khan’s Qarib Qarib Single 4 Turn: Sutapa Sikdar remembers husband, shares an anecdote

late Friday marks four years Bollywood Actor Irrfan Khan starrer Qarib Qarib Single has been released. Sharing the memory on his Facebook wall today, Irrfan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar penned a note remembering the actor. Sutapa shared a Facebook memory from 2017 where Irrfan posted critics’ opinion on his film Qarib Qarib Single. The theater artist began the note by saying that she is still battling sleep disorders after a year and a half.

At times, when she couldn’t sleep, Sutapa said her Facebook profile opens a “flood gate of memory, a new one every day”. These memory updates from the social media platform remind Sutapa of poet Sahir Ludhianvi’s famous lines, “Tum hote toh ye hota”, which her husband Irrfan actually once wanted to recite somewhere. Sutapa’s Facebook post also mentioned how she and Irrfan used to remember lines recited by actor Amitabh Bachchan in Silsila when they were both students at the National School of Drama. She wrote, “Bachchan saab’s iconic voice traveled many times in student days and irfan used to marvel at him but twenty five years later sahir saab lead the fantasy on bachchan saab and irfan who would say in late night conversation’ Yaar’ mujhe bolna tha ye ek baar (I wanted to say these lines once).'” However, Sutapa added, “Some journeys stop suddenly and leave you almost single.”

She ended the note with a lovely message, “Some people are so close that they stay close in life without them. (Some people are so close in life that they stay close to each other even though they are not together).

Fans of the actor flooded the comment section of Sutapa’s post with their memories and love for Irrfan. As one fan commented, “Oh this movie. This is such beauty. I would love to see it anywhere any day. Madam, your husband is a magician. The magic, charm and memories beyond a lifetime are what he has given to all of us. Best wishes to you.”

Another user commented, “I never thought the death of someone I’ve never seen or have any possibility to see in the future would make me feel like I’ve lost someone so close.” Yes. Maybe it was his talent. There will be no one like him. Keep writing about Irrfan.”

Irrfan passed away on April 29, 2020 at the age of 53 due to a colon infection after being diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor.
