IPL Mega Auction: Ambati Rayudu expected to be picked by Chennai Super Kings

Ambati Rayudu has been a vital part of the established Chennai Super Kings over the years, playing a key role in their middle-order and winning two IPL titles with them. Ahead of the IPL 2022 auction, however, he was released by the franchise as they chose to retain captain MS Dhoni, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad.

However, the middle-order batsman is hopeful that CSK will make a comeback next season despite admitting that so far the four-time IPL winners have not approached him.

Recalling his association with CSK so far, Rayudu said PTI“My stint with CSK has been very special. We have won two IPLs so far and played one final. 2018 was a very special season, a comeback season for CSK and we made it very special that year by winning the IPL.”

He praised Dhoni for bringing out the best in him and even claimed that the two-time World Cup winner is India’s best captain ever.

Rayudu said, “Dhoni bhai has made an impact to get the best out of me, not just me but he has impacted everyone and brings out the best out of everyone in the team.”

“That’s why he is the best captain India has ever had,” he said in an e-mail conversation.

Rayudu is expected to be picked up by the franchise in the mega auction reportedly to be held in February next year.

“… I would definitely love to play for CSK. Formally, I haven’t had any communication so far, but I hope they get picked and have a successful league again.”

“I have enjoyed the role I played with CSK this year (IPL 2021). Being in the lower middle order, it is difficult to get such an opportunity and I cherished every moment.”
