IPL Media Rights Auction Live Updates: TV rights reportedly sold for Rs 57.5 crore

Media rights Rs. 41,000 crores so far, with two parties, whose names are not yet known, unwilling to give up the digital rights of the mega event.

“Rs. 54.5 crores per match, the value of television rights has gone up to Rs. 22,345 crores while Rs. 46 crores per match, digital bidding has gone up to Rs. 18,860 crores. The combined value of rights so far is Rs. 41,205 crores. ,” said the report.

The report further noted that the price of digital rights has a strong potential to come very close to the price of television rights. “This is a major development and the overall price is expected to break the glass ceiling. As is well known, the base price for TV was fixed at Rs.49 crore and for digital it is Rs.33 crore. Supposedly That so far, digital has exceeded Rs.46 crore while the bid price for TV is Rs.54.5 crore,” the report added.

Apart from Packages A and B, which are the television and digital conglomerate for the Indian broadcasting sector, two more packages are also in the fray – namely Package C, which has 18-game non-exclusive special matches (base price Rs.11 crore) and Package D, which is Rest of the World rights (base price Rs 3 crore).

The report also said that the IPL media rights auction will go ahead on Monday as well, with Sunday’s auction proceedings coming to a halt at 6 pm, as per the rules set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It states that the bidders are making full use of the 30-minute gap between each bid.

Star India were the current holders of the IPL rights for the 2017–22 cycle, with a winning bid of Rs. 16,347.50 crore for both TV and digital in September 2017.

Earlier, Sony Pictures Networks had won the IPL TV media rights during the start of the tournament for a period of 10 years with a bid of Rs. 8200 crores.
