IPL Auction 2024: Shahrukh Khan To Play For Gujarat Titans For Rs 7.40 Cr

Tamil Nadu all-rounder Shahrukh Khan was acquired by the Gujarat Titans for Rs 7.4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction held in Dubai on Tuesday. A bidding battle unfolded between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans, with Shahrukh ultimately finding a new home with the Gujarat franchise.

Shahrukh Khan was previously released by the Punjab Kings, resulting in a freeing up of Rs 9 crore. Having played 33 matches for Punjab in the IPL, he showcased a strike rate exceeding 160 in 2023, although faced challenges in maintaining consistency. Despite his proficiency in power-hitting against pace, Shahrukh has a vulnerability against wrist-spinners.

While his recent white-ball season with Tamil Nadu might have been average, Shahrukh’s skills as a finisher proved to be highly valued during the auction.

Shahrukh Khan also possesses bowling prowess. In the TNPL 2023, he emerged as the highest wicket-taker with 17 scalps in nine matches, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 6.66. While he hasn’t showcased his bowling skills in the IPL yet, his batting capabilities are notable, evident from a striking 190 strike rate in the TNPL 2023.
