Gujarat Titans registered a 35-run win over defending champions Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday in the ongoing 2024 edition of the Indin Premier League.
GT posted a total of 231 runs thanks to tons from openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill before the hosts restricted CSK to 196 runs as Mohit Sharma starred with a three-wicket haul.
The win helped GT take their points tally to 10 this season in 12 games and lifted them to the eighth spot in the league standings, as the side from Ahmedabad kept their playoff hopes alive with the win.
CSK, on the other hand, remain fourth in the table despite the loss, but their NRR took a hit as it declined to +0.491 from +0.7.

Kolkata Knight Riders lead the table with 16 points from 11 fixtures and are followed by Rajasthan Royals, who also have 16 points to their name. KKR are placed higher up due to their superior Net Run Rate of +1.453 as compared to RR’s NRR of +0.476.
Sunrisers Hyderabad stand third in the table with 14 points under their belt after 12 outings.
Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are placed fifth and sixth respectively as they have tallied 12 points this season from as many games and are separated by nothing but NRR, with DC’s -0.316 bettering LSG’s -0.769,
Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have 10 points to their name from 12 outings, stand seventh in the league, ahead of GT on NRR. RCB’s net run rate of +0.217 trumps GT’s NRR of -1.063.
Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, the two teams who have already been eliminated from the race for the top four positions in the league stand ninth and tenth respectively with 8 points each from 12 fixtures. MI’s have an NRR of -0.212, while PBKS fare worse with -0.423.
