IPL 2024: Pat Cummins Appointed SRH Skipper

SunRisers Hyderabad announced Pat Cummins, the Australian World Cup-winning captain, as their new leader for the upcoming IPL season. Cummins, who was acquired for a record Rs 20.5 crore in the 2023 auction, replaces Aiden Markram after SRH’s disappointing performance last year. Cummins, who had a successful spell with his Australian side last year has been trusted with the responsibilities for the IPL franchise as well.

Despite having a strong squad, they finished at the bottom, winning only 4 out of 14 matches. The team will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 23, with the full schedule pending the Election Commission of India’s decision on General Election dates, which might clash with the tournament.

SRH has strengthened their lineup with Cummins and Travis Head, both instrumental in Australia’s World Cup victory. Following their opener in Kolkata, they’ll face Mumbai Indians at home, Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, and Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on April 5.
